Meet Ashlee
I'm Ashlee Croft — founder of SMOOVE Living Co, real estate investor, and licensed Realtor. But my why doesn't start with real estate. It starts with my family.
My mother has multiple sclerosis. My sister has cerebral palsy.
For years, I've watched them navigate a home that grew less and less accessible with every passing year. My mom lives in a house where she can't get to her own shower. My sister struggles just stepping into hers. And these aren't rare cases — this is the reality for millions of families across the country. Housing that used to work stops working. And there's nothing on the market built to replace it.
I've been in real estate for years. I started off fixing and flipping — moving houses, chasing spreads, doing what most investors do. Then I looked around and realized something I couldn't shake: I have the skill set to actually fix this.
I spent three years in the new-build home space. I understand construction. I understand design. And I understand accessibility from the inside — because I grew up in it.
So I shifted gears.
Instead of building more housing that doesn't serve the people who need it most, I decided to be part of the solution. I stopped just fixing and flipping and started converting homes into truly accessible spaces — and building new ones from the ground up.
Here's what most people don't realize: there's a massive education gap around what accessible actually means. People slap "accessible" on listings that aren't. Ramps get bolted onto porches. Grab bars get installed in bathrooms nobody can turn around in. It looks like access. It's not.
I know what true accessibility looks like — because I've watched my family live without it. I've watched what happens when a home stops being a home. And I've made it my mission to change that.
Because the more neighborhoods that go up, the more apartments, the more subdivisions — none of them are being built with wheelchair accessibility in mind. Not one.
SMOOVE Living Co is my answer. It's how I bridge the gap.
